About

My name is Nicola. I am a Front End Web Developer specialising in WordPress, (HTML, CSS, SASS, Javascript and PHP). I went back to university as a mature student and have a BA(Hons) degree in Interactive Media Production and a Masters (with Merit) in Interactive Media.

I am English and am lucky enough to currently be living in Spain, where I currently work as a freelance web designer at cannedSunlight. I enjoy the technical side of web design, troubleshooting and helping my clients learn to use WordPress, which makes it easy for everyone to have their own website and take control of it as a promotional tool for their business. You can see my portfolio of websites on my business website at cannedSunlight.

I have started this blog to chart my progress while I do some personal development and get deeper into coding. I have always used PHP to enhance WordPress, dipping in and out as necessary, but have shied away from using Javascript until now. Taking up the #100DaysOfCode challenge, and following the Front End Developer Certification course on Free Code Camp, I am now much more confident at using Javascript and you can see some of the small projects I have completed on Codepen.

I will also be adding to the blog any WordPress snippets, fixes and troubleshooting problems I encounter during my work in the hope that they may be helpful to someone else. I am forever searching the net for problems and fixes and never have time to thank everyone who has ever helped me. It always amazes me how helpful coders can be when trying to fix problems, and this is my attempt at giving something back. It is very true that by working together we can achieve great things.

If you are having problems with your WordPress website and need someone to help with the troubleshooting, or maybe some theme or plugin customisation, you can hire me to help you. I can also help with website security, and general maintenance and updates. Just send me a message with as much info you can and I’ll get right back to you.
